What does XRD mean? 

XRD is short for off-road. We built the XRD mattress to be as lightweight and tough as possible, namely so that it can meet the demands of off-roaders and overlanders who value both durable, reliable gear and every single cubic inch of trunk space. That said, while the XRD mattress is designed and constructed with off-road adventures in mind, it’s still a welcome companion on any road trip or casual car camping adventure!

How do you deal with the difference in height between the folded back seats and the trunk in some 4Runners? 

Great question. While the 4Runner is a near-perfect car camping vehicle, there is one disadvantage to the 5th-gen version–the three-inch step from the backseats to the trunk. Some campers choose to ignore this gap and use our mattress as is. Others stuff the gap with pillows or blankets. If you’re handy, you can go the DIY route, and build a platform–YouTube is a helpful resource for all of your car camping carpentry needs.
