An Underrated Camping Essential? - The Luno Fitted Mattress Sheets

An Underrated Camping Essential? - The Luno Fitted Mattress Sheets

An Underrated Camping Essential? - The Luno Fitted Mattress Sheets Description:The Upgrade You Didn't Know You Needed for Better Sleep Car camping is great, but if you’ve ever tried sleeping on an air mattress in your car, you know it can still be tricky to get a comfortable night’s sleep. Even with a good mattress, sheets that bunch, slide, or feel weird against your skin can ruin the experience. That’s where the Luno Fitted Mattress Sheet comes in. It’s designed specifically for Luno Vehicle Mattresses, and it might just be one of the more underrated pieces of gear for camping in your car. In this blog we’ll cover all the benefits of adding this seemingly simple sheet to your set up. Watch It in Action 🍿🎬 Sometimes it’s easier to see how it works. You’ll see how it fits the mattress, how to install and set up your sheets, and some key features that make it easier to use than just tossing a regular sheet on your mattress: Features & Details (What Makes This Sheet Different) Here’s why this sheet is different from a regular sheet and how it can make your car camping nights better: Snug Fit - Tailored for the Luno Air Mattress, so it won’t bunch or slip off while you sleep. Breathable & Quick-Drying - Keeps you comfortable in varying temperatures. Durable Material - Stands up to the rigors of car camping better than your home sheet and adds a layer of protection for your mattress. Valve Access - Cut-outs and slits make it easy to reach your mattress valves without removing the sheet. Extra Comfort Layer - Even though your mattress is already comfy, the sheet lets you sleep directly on it more comfortably and gives you the freedom to layer blankets or a comforter on top. Works With Other Luno Products - Compatible with the Fitted Sleeping Bag Comforter and Memory Foam Topper for a fully customized sleep setup. Easy Maintenance & Storage - Machine washable, quick-drying, and comes with a compact storage pouch. Winter vs. Summer Benefits of a Camping Sheet One of the best things about a sheet like this is how it adapts to different seasons: Winter: The breathable fabric keeps you from getting cold against the slightly cooler mattress surface while still allowing you to layer your comforter or sleeping bag. It also protects the mattress from moisture or condensation that can build up inside the car.📍Pro-Tip: You can use a warm fuzzy blanket from home between your mattress and your fitted sheet and it will be help in place by the sheet providing extra warmth and coziness. Summer: The sheet is lightweight and moisture-wicking, helping you stay cool and comfortable when temperatures rise. No sticking or overheating, even if you’re camping in the heat. How The Luno Sheets Compare to Your Sheets at Home You might think, “Can’t I just use my regular sheets?” While we are huge fans of using what you already have, here’s why a Luno-specific sheet is actually better for car camping: Regular sheets don’t consider car-specific things like valve access, corner cut-outs, or durability. Temperature regulation is more important when car camping. Home sheets won’t wick moisture or breathe the way this sheet does. In short, a sheet made for your air mattress removes small annoyances that might otherwise keep you from sleeping well. Why Car Camping Beats Tent Camping Now you might be asking, why even sleep in your car with a specific mattress and set of sheets and why not a tent?  Even if you love tents, sleeping in your car has some obvious perks: More Comfort - No uneven ground, rocks, or roots poking through your pad. Your car gives a flat, stable surface. Faster Setup - Skip pitching the tent; just set up your mattress and you’re done. It only takes a couple minutes Better Protection - Stay dry and away from bugs, wildlife, and bad weather. Easier Packing - All your gear stays in the car, reducing setup and cleanup stress. You can even set up your entire bed in your driveway so when you pull up to camp, your bed is already made. Bonus Gear to Make You Camping Setup Even Cozier If you want to take your car camping setup even further, these Luno products are worth considering: Luno Packable Camp Pillows - Packable, and comfortable for sleeping or lounging in your car. These are made with shredded memory foam and a dual sized pillowcase for warm and cool comfort. Fitted Sleeping Bag Comforter - Adds warmth and coziness on top of your mattress and sheet, perfect for chilly nights. Its meant to feel like your comforter from home with a durable sleeping bag design. String Lights - Make your car camping space feel inviting and fun, especially for late-night reading or relaxing. Window Screens - Keep bugs out while letting fresh air in, which is especially helpful in warmer weather. There are screens for you sunroof, side door windows, and trunk window if you have a 4Runner. Combining these with your Luno mattress and fitted sheet creates a sleep setup that’s flexible, comfortable, and ready for any season. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) Will this sheet fit other mattresses? It’s designed specifically for Luno Air Mattresses and are specific for your vehicle and mattress.  Can I use it without a Luno mattress? You could, but we don’t recommend it due to the specific tailored fit shape built to fit Luno Mattresses. How do I clean it? Machine washable, quick-drying, and folds into the included storage pouch. Can I use it with other Luno products? Yes! It works seamlessly with the Fitted Sleeping Bag Comforter and Memory Foam Topper to give you a fully customized, comfortable sleep setup. Can I use it when using only one half of my Luno Mattress? Short answer, no. It is designed to be used with your Luno mattress in double mode with both sides set up. You can use it with just one half of your mattress but you’ll need to fold the extra material under your mattress. Can I leave it on my mattress when packing it away? Yes! This is actually a great “pro-tip” to make for faster take down and set up of your sleep system. Simply deflate the mattress with the sheet still on it and fold up as you normally would before putting it away. Final Thoughts Sleeping in your car doesn’t have to be uncomfortable. With a few thoughtful pieces—like the Luno Fitted Mattress Sheet, pillows, comforters, and some small accessories—you can turn your car into a cozy, flexible sleeping space. Even little upgrades make a huge difference in comfort, convenience, and overall enjoyment on your next trip.

Accessible Camping in Big Sur: A Wheelchair-Friendly Adventure

Accessible Camping in Big Sur: A Wheelchair-Friendly Adventure

Accessible Camping in Big Sur: A Wheelchair-Friendly Adventure Description:At Luno, we believe in making the outdoors more accessible through thoughtfully designed vehicle gear, informative guides, and the resources someone might need to get outside and start camping. Making the outdoors more accessible can mean many things, but in the case of this story, it was providing camping gear to a member of our local non-profit, Oregon Adaptive Sports (OAS), to get helpful feedback on our products and to provide a comfortable new mattress set up for his trip. In this blog, you will read about Carl's adventures during a camping trip to Big Sur, the challenges he faces as a manual wheelchair user, and his camping setup. Life at Camp in Big Sur This August I spent four nights vehicle camping in tents at a private campground in Big Sur, California with my wife, kid, dog, and some close friends we camp with every summer. We drove down from our home in Bend, Oregon in my minivan, stopping in Davis to meet up with the rest of our group before heading south. Our campsites were a little cramped, but they adjoined one another, giving us one big communal space for cooking, campfires, and late-night board games. Just a short walk from camp was the Big Sur River with a private swimming hole for guests. Pretty idyllic, really. There were some accessibility challenges—the bathrooms weren’t wheelchair-friendly and the path to the river wasn’t accessible—so I relied on friends and family here and there. But it was worth it every time I ended up in a sunny river pool under a bridge, cold beer in hand. When we weren’t lounging by the water, we explored Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, strolled Pfeiffer Beach, and visited the Henry Miller Library, a funky little nonprofit bookstore. We cruised Highway One down to its current closure point past the Esalen Institute, ate fresh cherries from a roadside stand, and even cleaned up at a local trivia night, winning free firewood and ice cream. My Accessible Camping Setup I go camping three or four times a year—sometimes solo, sometimes with family or friends—and my AWD minivan always gets me there. For years I used a smaller tent, but switching to tall, high-ceilinged tents was a game changer. Now I can roll straight inside in my chair and sleep on a cot that’s the same height as my seat, which makes transfers easy and keeps me off the ground. This summer I upgraded my sleeping system, too. I replaced my bulky foam pad with the Luno Air+Foam Pro Camping Mattress, and it’s been a huge improvement. It takes up less space, feels just as comfortable, and comes with a fitted sheet designed for the mattress. Setup takes a bit longer, but for multi-night trips it’s worth it. Instead of a blanket, I use an unzipped, fleece-lined synthetic down sleeping bag, which keeps me warm without feeling restrictive. And recently I swapped my big bed pillow for the Luno packable pillow—compact but thick enough for side sleeping. My wife has already tried to claim it, so I think it’s a keeper. All of these little changes have added up to my most comfortable camping setup yet. Looking Ahead: Vehicle Camping in My Minivan Even though tent camping works great for me now, I’ve been thinking about trying true vehicle camping with my minivan. With the back seats folded down, I’ve got a large, flat space that would fit the Luno mattress perfectly. I’ve always associated sleeping in my car with my twenties—road trips, music festivals, that kind of thing—but now I’m curious about using it for solo adventures. A desert road trip sounds like the perfect test run. If I do, I’ll definitely report back. Camping with a wheelchair isn’t always easy, but with the right gear and a little support, it’s possible to have an amazing time outdoors.
