How much space is underneath the platform?
The step between the folded middle seats and the trunk is approximately 3 inches. The Baltic Birch platform sits flush with the folded middle seats, and the platform plywood is approximately .7 inches thick, leaving around 2.3 inches of space beneath the platform. If you’re making plans to store gear underneath the platform, we recommend planning for a gap of 2 inches.
Is the BamBed necessary to use Luno’s 4Runner Air Mattress?

Unfortunately, every day isn’t a camping trip. Fortunately, the easily disassembled BamBed has a slim footprint and can be easily stored in a standard closet. Installation and disassembly are simple, no tools, screws, or expletives required.
Crafted from premium Baltic Birch plywood, BamBeds are built to last. The plywood consists of long, continuous grain sheets that sport an even ply thickness through the laminate, making it resistant to warping. The thick face plys are ultra-tough and resistant to scratching and splintering, too.
Baltic Birch plywood is exceptionally strong. So strong, in fact, that each board can support over 800 pounds. If you somehow break a board, we’ll send you a replacement free of charge.
